Kim Anderson , Author and Educator

In the course of her career as a professional mother, Kim Anderson has home-schooled her three children, trained lobbyists for Concerned Women for America, founded a homeschool college prep cooperative, coached national speech and debate champions, and produced summer-stock Shakespeare and award-winning independent film with her children.

Kim has written Countdown to College: a Homeschoolers’ Guide to Winning Scholarships, which helped her first two daughters earn nearly a million dollars in scholarships. The book prompted a workshop, which walks homeschooling families through the unfamiliar territory of college prep. Her work on homeschool college prep has featured her family in a Focus on the Family television short and has made her a popular radio talk-show guest. Kim is the author of Lincoln-Douglas Debate: Guidebook for Debating the Value Topic, and is the retired Regional Coordinator for a 12-state area in the National Christian Forensics & Communication Association.

Currently, Kim is developing a book and workshop for the next, the post-graduate phase of life: “Age to Age: Parenting for the Seasons of Life”. Age to Age explores the emotional and family-life issues of transitioning from a nuclear family to an extended family. Centering on a study of God’s process of preparing His son, Israel, for service in the world, the workshop and the “It’s About Time” publication series equip parents to build homes characterized by refuge and celebration. Age to Age helps parents to strengthen themselves and their children for the separations necessary to effective Kingdom work, and to balance that sorrow with the joyful invitations that call capable young adults back into family contexts in healthy ways. The presentation “Quests and Homecomings” is a preview of this new workshop.

She is also working with her local church to develop a Christian artists’ community in the Denver area.
